Weirde 13 is a predominantly queer community currently inhabited by non-binary, cis female and cis male people between the ages of 22-38, from different cultural backgrounds. The main languages we speak are English, German and Spanish. Most of us have an academic background and are currently working or/and studying. We align on a left, anti-imperialist, trans queer feminist political orientation. Some are more involved in political and social work, some love to create music, draw, dance, sew, sing, move, crochet and watch movies, sometimes together and sometimes alone. Throughout the last 2 years we have been a stable constellation of 13 Weirdos, and currently we are in a phase of transformation, as some people chose to move on to other spaces, but we are still on good terms and see them as an extension of our circle :) We are looking for people who would be excited to be a part of this new phase of participating in the co-creation/continuation of our community life. The people that will stay in the house are motivated to shape a new community while also wanting to enrich the collective knowledge already existing in the house. We enjoy brunching and being creative and silly together, playing games in the kitchen or the terrace. From time to time we also like having movie nights in the living room. Of course everyone has their private and work lives and can close the door to their rooms if they need some quiet time. It is also not mandatory to take part in all community events and projects. We consciously choose to live with 12 other people and would want the same from our new roomie. Generally we follow the path of live and let live, so we cultivate respect and take each other's needs seriously. We value open communication and see conflict as part of the process. We are looking for a new roommate who has experience living with many people, and ideally has experience navigating conflicts with openness, honesty, compassion and complexity. One of the few hard structures we established is a gamified Putzplan that helps us keep our home clean and our monthly or atm biweekly plenaries. We would like you to view the flat as a HOME and take initiative to help it stay clean and cosy. You are expected to participate in our monthly plenary, where we discuss topics concerning the WG, talk about our ideas, wishes and suggestions and of course laugh a lot. We are located between S Schöneweide (15min walking distance) and S Baumschulenweg, there is a bus to S Baumschulenweg in front of the house and a tram to S Schöneweide, S Karlshorst and Köpenick within 5 minutes walking distance. It's also super easy to bike to Neukölln (20 Minutes) and if you want Kreuzberg energy, you can cycle through the forest (Plänterwald/Treptower Park) along the river (also 20ish minutes). There's plenty of supermarkets around as well, a couple great bars and Schöneweide's hidden gems.
